Pupil Premium

Oak CE Primary School is committed to ensuring maximum progress for all groups of children and strives to close any gaps in achievement.  We recognise that all children, regardless of background, should have equal access to a curriculum which will enable them to achieve their full potential.

PUPIL PREMIUM AND RECOVERY PREMIUM
The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the gaps between them and their peers.

Our vision of ‘Be The Best You Can Be’ underpinned by our Christian Values of Love, Respect, Endeavour & Joy drives our aim to overcome educational disadvantage leading to improved outcomes for all, especially our disadvanatged pupils.

National research backed up by the Unity Research School and Essex County Council (Marc Rowland 2021), highlights 4 core interrelated elements needed to overcome educational disadvantage. These are:

• Building strong relationships
• Language development and comprehension
• Equipping children with the tools of metacognition (understanding how they learn) and self-regulated learning
• Early identification of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues and effective intervention

These combined with great teaching and a challenging, knowledge rich curriculum for all pupils are the cornerstone of our school improvement plans to overcome the barriers to learning faced by our disadvantaged pupils both historically and as a result of Covid-19.

In for the 2022/23 financial year we will receive £296,390 pupil premium funding. In the 2022/23 academic year, we will also receive £30,704 recovery premium funding (additional funding to support schools with educational recovery following Covid-19).
